Dotty Tuft was founded by two artists who are passionate about tufting and excited to share their favorite media.

Meet MOCHA

Our behind-the-scenes big boss and the ultimate yarn ball hunter. She loves anything soft and fluffy — not realizing she’s actually the fluffiest and cutest one of all.

With her irresistible charm, she has everyone wrapped around her paw. But don’t worry — she’s also a generous boss who allows unlimited petting and cuddle breaks whenever the team needs a little stress relief.

She makes occasional surprise visits to the studio each month… and let’s just say, no one dares to slack off when the boss is around 🐾

Meet May & Rui

Dotty was founded by Rui and May—two experienced artists, designers, and full-time servants to the studio’s real boss.

Rui is a tufting artist with over 5 years of experience making and teaching tufting. Her experience includes working at Scattered Kind in New York City, as well as developing tufted artwork and workshops during her MFA in Illustration at MICA. Whether it’s technique, troubleshooting, or a particularly stubborn curve, Rui has you covered.

May is an experienced designer and illustrator—and the creative mind behind Dotty’s branding, website, and visual experience. With a background in graphic design, including an MA from SCAD, she has a knack for turning ideas into designs that are both beautiful and beginner-friendly. Need help simplifying your image or choosing the perfect yarn colors? That’s her zone.
